OVERVIEW OF TECHNOLOGY


Nanotechnology is the technology to control and manipulate atoms and molecules as few as 5 or 6 in number. Serious work on this infinitesimally small order of magnitude commenced in laboratories only about ten years ago based upon the theoretical speculations of Richard Feynman. Scientists now project revolutionary advances in material sciences, optoelectronics, biology and medicine arising from the practice of nanotechnology. Newsweek, explaining nanotechnology, stated: "Nanotechnology lets us in on creation itself: if we can have the constituent molecules, we can have [virtually] anything". Our practice of nanotechnology is based upon phenomena which produce non-linear attributes and properties of single atoms when confined within nanocrystals of sizes between 2 - 5 nanometers. We have named an atom which is so confined and which exhibits non-linear properties as a Quantum Confined Atom(QCA)

Nanocrystals Technology, L. P. (NCT)

Nanocrystals Technology, L. P. (NCT) was founded in late 1993 by Dr. Rameshwar Bhargava, formerly Director and Scientific Advisor of Philips Laboratories. NCT was organized for the purpose of engaging in fundamental science research with regard to Quantum Confined Atoms. Within four years, based upon private capital as well as grants from National Science Foundation and other government agencies, NCT accomplished Dr. Bhargava's goal of developing processes to accomplish non-linear changes in the property of atoms when confined within very small nanocrystals. These discoveries resulted in the creation of nano-sized luminescent particles with light output equivalent to that of commercial phosphors 1000 times larger.

Nanocrystal Imaging Corporation (NIC)
Nanocrystal Imaging Corporation (NIC) was founded in October 1997 to exploit some of NCT's discoveries in the creation of high quality digital x-ray images. This has been a major objective of the medical imaging industry during the last decade. Digital x-ray imaging systems developed to date by other manufacturers do not produce images with sufficiently high resolution and contrast. After a 4-year effort, NIC has developed patented products and processes which can provide a reliable platform to achieve high quality digital x-ray imaging. The first of NIC's products for commercial use is addressed to the dental imaging market, and will be marketed by mid 2003. Products addressing other market will be available in successive years.

Nanocrystal Lighting Corporation (NLC) was organized in April 2002 to exploit NCT's discoveries in the field of solid state lighting, high intensity lamps, novel applications for transparent, high refractive index glass and polymers, etc.
